PEAK's 4th Annual Block Party

On Saturday, July 20th, PEAK hosted its annual Block Party at Tiefenthaler Park. What started as an event for PEAK to support and connect with the Midtown community has continued to grow with every year, and this summer was no exception. The block party had a variety of options for community members like free food, youth haircuts, face painting, a resource fair, a community market, and a 3v3 basketball tournament.

Some of the highlights of the event included DJ the Jenuis, who played for the whole event and performed live, inviting young people to join him. After a twelve team tournament that went through the afternoon, we also crowned our first ever PEAK 3v3 Champions, The Mon-Stars! Lastly, the event ended with a guest appearance from Milwaukee County Executive, David Crowley. Not only did Crowley announce the winners of the 3v3 tournament, he thanked PEAK for its twenty years of work in Milwaukee. To acknowledge the efforts of PEAK, Crowley made the announcement that July 20th would officially be recognized as PEAK Initiative Day in Milwaukee County!

It was an honor for PEAK and it’s staff to have Crowley and Milwaukee County recognize the years of impact that PEAK and Lake Valley Camp has had on Milwaukee’s young people and our community. We have had many community partners over the years, but we would like to show appreciation to all the groups who helped make this block party, and this day, as special as it was.
