PEAK@PRIDE!

This Sunday (June 9th) PEAK will be practicing our belief of Every Living Being Has Inherent Value and The Community Is Better When Everyone Contributes by participating in Milwaukee's Pride Parade! If you or your family is interested in joining PEAK Staff in walking with the parade through the city, answer the questions below to register so that our staff know to expect you. Only one person per family is needed to register. Some more details about the parade can be found here:

The staging point for the parade will be on 2nd and Lapham, with Pride staff at multiple spots around the area to help direct you to our area. The parade will begin sharply at 2:00pm, so please plan on joining PEAK staff by 1:30 the latest to ensure the parade doesn't leave before you are able to join us. PEAK will not be providing transportation before or after the event. There is no pre-determined parking for parade participants, so you will have to find your own parking with enough time to get to the PEAK section by 1:30pm.

There are several rules dictating what is allowed at the parade in order to keep it an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for all. To summarize, this event is Family Friendly, so we ask that you dress and behave accordingly. Dogs or cats are allowed, but only if they are on a leash. We will have some candy/items to give to spectators and would love you to help us distribute if you're interested. We just ask that you use it sparingly so we can reach the end (they are estimating 15,000 viewers) and be sure to only toss items underhand to avoid injuries.

If you have any further questions, please call PEAK at (414) 431-4508 or email us at nacosta@peakinitiative.org

IF YOU NEED HELP AT ANY TIME – Parade volunteers will be wearing white shirts with the parade logo on the back – Parade OFFICIALS will be wearing black vests with “official” on the back. Any of these people can point you in the right direction. There is also a feather flag in the center of the staging area that you can go to for info.

Please Read The Parade Rules and Regulations:

All organizations, groups, vehicles, and the like shall be considered "units". All units will respect the rights of other units to take place in the parade. Handouts or giveaways must be family friendly.

Use your judgment when representing your group. The following regulations must be complied with.

1. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR DRUGS! Consumption of alcoholic beverages or drugs during the lineup, or actual Parade is immediate grounds for expulsion from the event.

2. No animals without prior permission. Dogs and cats are exempted but must be on a leash.

3. No signs, banners, groups promoting or showing profanity, sex acts or obscene material.

4. All state and local ordinances regarding nudity will be strictly enforced. All costumes and other apparel worn in the parade must comply with the Obscenity Statutes of the State of Wisconsin and the public decency ordinances of the City of Milwaukee. No Jock Straps, G-strings, bras, or panties will be permitted to appear in the parade. No see-through clothing will be permitted, for example: any person wearing chaps will be required to have jeans or other suitable attire under such chaps to prevent public viewing of parts of the anatomy which violates Wisconsin obscenity laws. All decisions as to the propriety of attire to be worn in the parade will be made by the parade officials.

5. It is the responsibility of the entrant to remove units that become disabled immediately. If you are unsure about your vehicle, plan for towing needs. Any fees associated with towing/repair, or tickets issued by law enforcement agencies for abandoned vehicles, shall be the responsibility of the entrant. Milwaukee Pride Parade is not responsible for any damage to any unit before, during, or after the parade.

6. Large, motorized units are advised to have someone on both sides of the unit to guide them and ensure that no spectators are in the way.

7. At no time shall any units endanger the safety of themselves, other units or spectators.

8. Units agree to follow the direction of the Milwaukee Pride Parade Officials, Milwaukee Pride Parade Security, and the Milwaukee Police Department.

9. Entrants are responsible for the set-up and clean up of their unit before and after the parade.

10. Overhand throwing of objects IS NOT PERMITTED. Please underhand throw so as not to injure any spectators.

11. All registered units must be in their designated line-up position and ready by 1:45 PM. Entrance to the staging area starts at 10AM. If you have a float and need more time to set up, please contact us so we can plan for an earlier time.

12. Any parade unit in violation of the above rules and regulations will be ejected from the Parade.

Not a rule, just a suggestion. If you are distributing anything there are about 15,000 plus people watching the parade. Also, you may want to have a banner for your unit, so people know who you are.

Applications are subject to approval by the Milwaukee Pride Parade. Milwaukee Pride Parade reserves the right to reject any application it believes would be inappropriate given the nature of the event.

We reserve the right to change and amend these and any other rules and regulations which govern the parade at any time with or without public notification.

There are Port-A-Poties at the south end – center - and north end of the staging area. The center area also has a handicap unit. Also, there are Port-A-Poties at the end of the parade route.

We hope to make this a fun and safe parade.

Thank you for wanting to be part of the parade because without you - we do not have a parade.
